Bun Belly Opens, Baby Bun to Follow This Summer

According to general manager Melissa Hale, Bun Belly on Airport Blvd is scheduled to open today. The restaurant is offering contemporary Vietnamese cuisine and is located in the space formerly occupied by Your Mom’s Burger Bar. The restaurant will offer an abbreviated menu initially with plans to add more items once opened. Some featured dishes include: shrimp and avocado summer rolls, steamed pork belly buns, Pho, and traditional vermicelli bowls traditionally known as Bún. Kim Thai and Quang Vuong also of Pho Thaisson, are originally from Da Nang, Vietnam. They will serve a noodle dish typical of this area made with wide yellow rice noodles, shrimp, pork belly, banana leaves, vegetables and herbs. Asian inspired desserts like sweet sticky rice with miso caramel, lychee sorbet and brûléed mango will round out the menu.

Melissa shared that the former Tamale House space next door will be transformed into Baby Bun. It will offer a takeout menu focusing on Bahn Mi sandwiches and Vietnamese baked goods. Permits have been submitted and the expected opening is later this summer.
